Βιωματικές Εκπαιδευτικές Δράσεις μέσω των Τεχνών – Experiential Learning through the Arts

ABOUT ART ACTS (TECHNIS DRASEIS)

Riverside Love, S.Papasotiriou, 1989, Mixed media

Our educational programs are held in Athens, Greece and are addressed to adult individuals or groups, as well as to children 3-12 years old. Depending on the target groups, the educational approach either tends to evoke the experience, emotions and dreams, or uses action, imagination and play, as learning tools.

The overall aim is to evoke critical thinking,  facilitate transformation of previous knowledge of ourselves and our surroundings, as well as to activate creativity and imagination through an experiential and interactive journey in the arts.

We at Art Acts strongly believe that “intelligence is a multiple reality” (H.Gardner) and that “art has an apocalyptic dimension that takes us beyond the phenomena” (M.Heidegger). Based on this rationale, sensory perception and action become essential agents of interpretation and meaning-making.

Through contact with the visual and performing arts, literature and the art conservation experience, the participants individually or in groups, take the lead and activate their critical thinking and imagination with appropriate inspirational and creative stimuli.

The sessions are single or in the form of thematic units.

“For apart from inquiry, apart from the praxis, individuals cannot be truly human. Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other.”

― Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
